Major Newsletter on Fasting and Autophagy

Below you will find a link to a major paper I have done on fasting. This series of studies are among the most important I have worked on over the years. Fasting is one of the most powerful factors involved in promoting healing and extending life. This is true across the animal kingdom. Understanding ketones is essential for dealing with weight loss and diabetes. If the link does not work go to www.imageawareness.com, click on the newsletter tab, scroll down to 2025 and click on "Fasting and Ketones."

Sperrmidine

NeoLife Tre-en-en grain and legume concentrates have been known to produce a wide variety of health benefits since the introduction of the supplement in 1958. Recent research on a nutritional substance found most abundantly in wheat germ but also in rice and soy may explain some of the benefits of the supplement. Spermidine promotes the self-cleaning of cells called autophagy, also activated by fasting, and has been shown to prolong life span and promote health in laboratory animals. It also reduces inflammation and promotes the health of the mitochondria where energy is produced within cells. It has also been shown to benefit in the slowing of the progression of dementia and improving heart health.

 Autophagy & Mitophagy

Autophagy literally means "self eating." It is a process which goes on in the cell when an individuals goes without food for a period of time. The cells produce enzymes and useless material within the cell is directed into sacks of enzymes to be digested and broken down into new building materials which can then be used to rejuvenate and repair cellular damage. The discovery of how autophagy works was awarded a Nobel prize.
Recent research has shown that the phytonutrients in pomegranate promote autophagy in the mitochondria where energy is produced in the cell. This slows the aging process and reduced the risk of diseases associated with poorly functioning mitochondria.
The article below states, "Mitochondrial dysfunction underscores aging and diseases. Mitophagy (mitochondria + autophagy) is a quality control pathway that preserves mitochondrial health by targeting damaged mitochondria for autophagic degradation. Hence, molecules or compounds that can augment mitophagy are therapeutic candidates to mitigate mitochondrial-related diseases.... In this study, pomegranate extract (PE) supplementation is shown to stimulate mitophagy."
