Diabetes

The Journal of the American Medical Association recently published figures on the incidence of diabetes for 2012. The study found that 14% of the American population is diabetic and 38% is prediabetic. This means that a little over half the U.S. population suffers with one of the two conditions.
The NeoLife Glycemic Response Control technology is built into the new NeoLife Shakes and can be an ideal meal replacement for many of these people. The shakes have been shown in a clinical trial to promote weight loss and improve measurements of heart health.
Confusion in Nutrition Science

I am often asked why there is so much confusion in nutrition science. The usual reason is that financial interests become involved in funding research. A recent example is Coca-Cola's funding of the Global Energy Balance Network. The organization promotes the idea that those who wish to lose weight should focus on exercise rather than sugar and caloric intake. Coke donated 1.5 million dollars to start the organization and has provided close to 4 million in funding for various projects to two of the founding members of the organization.
Coca-Cola, one of Warren Buffet's favorite investments over the years, has been hurt by a 25% reduction in the consumption of full calorie sodas over the last 20 years.
This kind of partnership between a company that sells junk foods and a research organizations is not unique. "The American Society for Nutrition and the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics have been criticized by public health advocates for forming partnerships with companies such as Kraft Foods, McDonald's, PepsiCo and Hershey's."
Money does not have to, but it often does influence what research is published and what is not.
